MCCS Afternoon Adventures Program Description:
The Muddy Creek Charter School Afternoon Adventures Program is a fee-based program for 4 through 6 year old children. This program is primarily designed to be an enriching care program for kindergarten-age children who are either enrolled in kindergarten or are being home-schooled. MCCS Afternoon Adventures is not an accredited kindergarten program and is not aligned to state kindergarten standards. It is designed to enhance and reinforce concepts that the children are being taught in their primary learning environment and to provide exposure to experiences that may not typically be found in a kindergarten program.
The program will offer interactive activities that include lunch, story time, library and dramatic play areas, puzzles, a variety of wooden blocks and building materials, group games, nature explorations, art, music and dance. Seasonal themes will guide the activities. Nature explorations, outdoor play, group games will be offered weekly. Art is one of the main activities offered each day. The students will design and create from their personal feelings and experiences.
The program will follow MCCS guidelines for safety, respect, and responsibility. This will be accomplished with recognition of jobs well done, team building progrects, and using gentle guidance and redirecting during challenging moments. Building positive self esteem and team work is an essential part of the program. The program also provides opportunities for the children to develop friendships and share school activities with the students attending MCCS in grades 1-5.
